In a unanimous vote on Tuesday, June 25, the DeKalb Board of Commissioners approved the conveyance of ten parks to the City. After nearly a year of legal discussions, property appraisals, and maintenance transfers, the City of Brookhaven finally has the license of the following parks:
2. Blackburn Park
3. Briarwood Park
4. Clacks Corner Park
5. Georgian Hills
6. Lynwood Park
7. Murphey Candler
8. Parkside Park
9. Perimeter Trail Park
10. Skyland Trail Park
“I am glad that the City finally can move forward on the promises made to our citizens and develop some great projects around our parks & green spaces,” says Council member Rebecca Williams.
By the end of 2014, the City will have acquired 14 parks and green spaces from DeKalb County. An official ceremony will be held in the fall to celebrate the acquisitions.
